The Inductive Bible Study Companion

Available in print from Amazon; illustrated or unillustrated editions available. It is also available as an e-book in most major e-stores, such as Kindle. I recommend the illustrated version – especially if you are a visual learner.

Resources mentioned in the book are found at the bottom of this page.

This book is also available in PDF format for free; this is to make the Word of God known. You are welcome to print and photocopy this as you wish for personal study and Kingdom purposes – just be sure to include the source on all photocopies. Message me through the contact page to coordinate exchange of the book. If you like the resource and would like to support me, you can purchase it through Amazon or Kindle. This will help me continue creating resources and cover the cost of illustrating the book – the illustrator is a Zimbabwean missionary and God-gifted artist.

The Inductive Bible Study Companion is based on the method used in YWAM’s School of Biblical Studies of which I have staffed, led, and taught on. I also planted the school in Kigali, Rwanda. It is a 9 month school where students read through each book of the Bible 5 times whilst studying it inductively. Students work 6 days a week, for upwards of 10-14 hours a day. Unfortunately, most of us do not have the luxury to take this time out of our studies, jobs and lives. The Inductive Bible Study Companion gives you all you need to study the Word inductively in your own time, and at your own pace.

There are two main types of approach when opening our Bibles: Inductive and Deductive. When taking a deductive approach, one goes to the Bible for evidence to confirm their preconceived ideas. When using the inductive approach, one looks to see what the Bible says. Deductive approaches to Scripture are appropriate at times, but not when studying the Bible.

Learning to look at the Bible inductively can take time, as education and many Bible resources do not teach us this way of thinking. We are taught from a young age to absorb information that others tell us, and to see the world through blurry lenses. Inductive Bible study enables us to become detectives keen to see what the Bible truly says. The Inductive Bible Study Companion will have you taking off your foggy lenses and seeing the Bible in real light; you will find new treasures as you dig deeper than ever before!
