Time for a Heart Check-up; Malachi a

I love the book of Malachi. I am privileged to be back in it as I write a booklet for a distance-education Bible school that is commencing through the Shan Project (have a look at the ministry). That said, this book isn’t for the faint hearted. It isn’t for those wanting to close up to the Spirit. This book challenges us to look deep into our hearts and let the Spirit work.

In the book of Malachi, the people of God get a spiritual heart check-up. He is putting on His doctor gown and He is going to complete open heart surgery. As we follow in their footsteps and have a look at this book in coming weeks, I challenge you to also open your ears and spirits to God’s voice, revealing areas where your heart is at risk.

It can be surprising what God reveals to us when we choose to check. If you haven’t been to the Good Doctor for a while, or even if you go daily, I pray that through this small series you will. I pray that you will be brave and willing to open yourself up to the pain that revelation can bring. I pray that you will be brave enough to go before God and give it back to Him. I pray that you will allow Him to remove anything festering there below the surface.  It is a great reward when He draws you close to Him again. You will gain a greater vision of who He is.

Give Him permission to reveal the good, the bad, and the ugly to you!

Extra for the eager: If you’re anything like me you like to jump on in to the Bible and hear God’s words. Go ahead! Have a read through the book of Malachi. It’s only 4 chapters so try to get through it in one go if you can. It should only take you about 10 minutes. After that, we’ll get into some of the background behind the book.
